Klopp Defends Red Bull Role, Says He Won’t Return to Coaching

Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has broken his silence on his new position as Global Head of Soccer at Red Bull, addressing criticism while clarifying that a return to coaching is not on the horizon at least for now.

Klopp, who stepped away from the Liverpool dugout in May after nearly a decade of success at Anfield, admitted he understands the divided reaction to his decision but insists the move allows him to contribute to football in a different way.

“I don’t hurt anybody in this role. I’m not competing against my old clubs. I’m here to share knowledge, to help improve structures, and to build something sustainable,” Klopp said.

The 57-year-old confirmed that his work with Red Bull, which oversees clubs such as RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg is more about strategy, scouting, and development than day-to-day management.

As for a coaching comeback, Klopp stressed patience.

“I won’t return this year, probably not next year either. But one day? Most likely, yes. I love football too much to say never.”

Klopp’s future has been the subject of speculation since leaving Liverpool, with his name linked to potential international roles and even Premier League rivals. For now, however, his focus remains on building Red Bull’s global football project.
